Michael in Ireland
Prior to 1992, the Irish charts were compiled using record company shipments. The singles chart was a Top 20 in 1970, then increased to a Top 30 in December 1978. Between July 1976 and February 1977 a separate Top 10 was compiled for Irish artists.
Since 1992, the singles chart - compiled for the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) - has been sales-based Top 50. Gallup compiled the charts between 1992 and 1996, when ChartTrack took over. The current charts are weekly Top 50 Singles, Top 100 Albums & Top 10 Music DVDs. Legal downloads have been counted towards the singles chart since the end of June 2006.
